1) Painting exhibition: 2nd September
On 2nd September Art andCreativity committee head Binaba Gohil has organized a Painting exhibition and
competition. Tarun Kothari, Prof. Vinod Joshi and Prof. Dilip Barad have inaugurated
the painting exhibition. Almost 55 students have participated in the
competition by giving their art works. There were two competitions in exhibition,
first was best painting and second was best interpreter.

2) Guest lecture of Prof. R.K.
Mandaliya sir: 3 to 5 September
Prof. R. K. Mandaliya sir has taken
lectures in semester 1 and 3 during this three days session. Mandaliya sir has
discussed poetry in both the semesters.

3) Celebration of Teacher’s
day: 6th September
On 6th September we have
celebrated Teachers day. 20 students have participated and perfectly played
their role of teacher.

4) Blood donation: 7th
September
On 7th September there was a
blood donation camp at administrative building of MK Bhavnagar University.
5) Dr. Devang
Rangani: 8th September
Dr. Devang Rangani (Assistant Prof. of
English, S. S. Govt. Engineering College, Bhavnagar and former student of
department of English MKBU) has visited Department of English and discussed his
research work "Exploration of urban Pakistani society with special
reference of fiction by Mohsin Hamid and Kamila Shamsie" with students.
The special guests were Dr. Chetan Trivedi and Dr. Bhairavi Dixit.

6) Visit of an Old age home:
12th September
On 12th September Daily
schedule committee has organized a visit of an old age home. More than 20
students have joined the visit.

7) Ph.D public defense -
Krutika Trivedi: 14th September
On 14th September 2016,
Ph.D Viva of Ms.Kruti Trivedi took place at the New Court Hall of Maharaja
Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University. Under the guidance of Dr. Mansukh
Gaijan (HOD, Samaldas Arts College), Ms. Kruti successfully completed her
Doctorate degree in "Socio-cultural and psychological issues in Sahitya
Akademi Awarded Novels". Prof. Jaydipsinh K Dodiya ( Saurashtra
University) played the role of external referee. Many knowledgeable persons
like Prof. Dilip Barad, Prof. Ravi Zala, Dr.Chetan Chetan Trivedi and Prof. Mahendrasinh
Parmar made the session more interesting. The students of the Department of
English made the Viva more interactive by questioning the Ph.D. scholar.

8) Guest lecture of Dr. Ravi
Zala: 14th and 15th September
Prof.
Ravi Zala has discussed Indian writing in English in Semester 1. It was 2 days
session and students have really enjoyed learning.
9) Celebration of Hindi
diwas: 15th September
On 15th September, Daily
schedule committee has celebrated Hindi Diwas. Dr. Ravi zala Has also
participated in Daily Schedule.

Memory tree plantation: 17th September
On 17th September 2016, Gardening Committee has organized
memory tree plantation in Department of English. As a part of N.S.S. activity,
students cleaned campus area, removed weeds from the ground and planted new
plants.

11) Talk with Prabodh Parekh: 19th September
On 19th September, 2016,
Prabodh Parekh has talked about Film appreciation with the students of Department
of English.

12) Gadhyasabha - “La.
Tha. Sarkhi wat” – 20th September
On 20th September, 2016,
Gujarati department has organized a Gadhyasabha - “La. Tha. Sarkhi wat” based on
the life of Gujarati writer Labhshankar Thakar.

13) Webinar – 21st September
Webinar was organized by the
British Council on "Improving Communication Skills through Blogs and
Forums". It was live telecast and the session was very informative as well
as interactive. Very important links have shared by speakers and they have also
talked about the use of various websites of British Council in language learning.
They have given priority to every member who is live on webinar; they have also
answered the question asked by Vaidehi Hariyani.

14) Dr. Nishant Pandya – 22nd September
Dr. Nishant Pandya has visited
Department of English on 22nd September. He has talked about his
research topic An ESP Research on CCM with students. Dr. Chetan Trivedi has also
attended the session.

16) International conference at Pune:
22nd to 25th September
There
was an International conference in Pune on Peace and world literature. Divya
Chaudhary, Budhidiya Das and Jayati Thakar have participated in the conference.
17) Workshop – women empowerment: 29th September
On 29th September, 2016, Women’s Development Cell of Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University has organized a workshop on women empowerment “"Humour with Hormones".

18) Talk with an Author –
Mahendrasinh Parmar: 30th September
On 30th September, 2016, Prof. Mahendrasinh Parmar has narrated his short story “Intellectual Indubhai” and discussed it with students. He also has given his collection of short stories “Polytechnic” as the winning prize to the winner (Yesha Bhatt) of report writing on two days workshop.
